Description

Kajal has been worn by men for centuries, not as decoration, but as definition. It sharpens the gaze, adds intensity and creates an unmistakable presence. The Mankind Kajal Pencil re-imagines this tradition for today, with an instrument that feels right, authentic and unapologetically masculine.

The MKND Kajal Pencil is a long-wearing eyeliner, designed to bring definition, depth and expression to the eyes. Draw a fine line close to the lashes for a subtle result, or blend it out for a stronger, smoky finish. The fine 2 mm twist-up format makes it easy to work in small, controlled strokes, without needing a sharpener.

Kajal has a long history of being worn by men. Its appeal is easy to understand: a small amount of colour around the eyes can change the whole expression of a face. MKND brings that tradition into a practical pencil you can use every day, whether you are trying eye makeup for the first time or already know how you like to wear it.

Smooth application, lasting definition

A kajal needs enough softness to move comfortably across the skin, while retaining enough structure to draw a controlled line. It also needs time to blend before setting. MKND Kajal applies smoothly, allowing you to build colour gradually rather than pressing hard to get a result. Keep it close to the lash line for understated definition, or soften the edges while the colour is still workable. Once set, the long-wearing formula helps maintain the look.

Australian macadamia oil contributes to the pencil’s smooth glide and comfortable application. It sits within a carefully balanced formula developed to deliver colour, control and wear.

A fine twist-up pencil

The slim 2 mm tip helps you place colour close to the roots of the lashes, where it can make the lash line appear more defined. It is useful for small strokes, working around the outer corners and adding colour only where you want it.

The twist-up mechanism removes the need for sharpening, though there is one at the end of the pencil if you need a super point. Wind up only a small amount of product at a time, keeping most of the fine core supported inside the pencil. Apply with light pressure and replace the cap after use.

Brown or Charcoal?

Brown is an earthy shade that adds depth with a softer edge. It is a good starting point if you want everyday definition or prefer a warmer alternative to grey or black. Applied lightly, it gives a discreet result; built up and blended, it creates a deeper brown smoky eye.

Charcoal is a smoky dark grey with a cooler tone. It gives stronger-looking definition with less severity than jet black, making it a versatile choice for both a neat lash line and a more pronounced smoky finish.

Choose according to the effect you want. Brown gives softer, earthy depth; Charcoal brings cooler intensity. Both can be worn lightly or layered for more impact.

How to apply kajal pencil

Start with clean, dry eyelids. Wind up a small amount of the pencil and use short, light strokes along the upper lash line. You do not need to draw one perfect line in a single movement. Work a section at a time, keeping the colour close to the lashes.

For subtle definition, concentrate on the outer part of the upper lash line and gradually build the colour until you have the depth you want. Keeping the line narrow gives a quieter result that still draws attention to the eyes.

For a more visible line, continue along the upper lashes and add another light layer where needed. You can also apply a little beneath the lower lashes for additional definition. Start sparingly: it is easier to add colour than remove it.

How to create a smoky effect

A smoky eye comes from blending the edge of the colour so it gradually softens into the surrounding skin. It can be restrained and close to the lashes, or darker and more expressive.

Apply the kajal along the lash line, then blend before it sets. Our [MKND Smudge Brush](https://mankindmakeup.co.uk/product/smudge-brush/) helps soften the line and move the colour into a smoky finish. Use small movements along the edge, keeping the deepest colour near the lashes.

Work on one eye at a time so you have time to blend. Begin with a small amount, assess the result, then add more if you want extra depth. For a stronger look, build colour around the outer corner and soften the edges with the brush.

For everyday wear, nights out and the stage

Kajal does not have to mean a heavily made-up eye. A fine line can give everyday definition with very little visible product. Brown is particularly useful for a softer effect, while a light application of Charcoal adds a cool, shaded edge.

For nights out, gigs, photographs or stage makeup, build the colour and extend the blending a little further. The same pencil can create a discreet lash line or a more expressive smoky eye; the difference is how much you apply and how you blend it.

There is no single way men should wear kajal. Keep it neat, wear it smudged, or change it to suit the occasion.

Confidence can be drawn in.
